Old Stone Fort in Manchester, TN
This is the first blog post. I hope there will be many more and I plan on following this one up with a couple about our prior stops at some point in time.
We are currently at Old Stone State Park in Manchester, TN. We arrived November 10th after a family get together in Thompson's Station, TN, a little south of the more widely known city of Nashville. We plan to leave Old Stone November 19th.
After the family get together at Thompson's Station we wanted to stay in the TN area because we are hoping to get some tweaks made to our truck bed at the fabricator in Kodak, TN. Since we don't have a set appointment we are staying fairly local so we can get to Kodak when the time is right.
We had a family visit one day during our stay at the park which was an added bonus. Thank you for visiting Michelle D.
Just a little bit about the Old Stone Fort and then I mostly want to show you the park with pictures. The Old Stone Fort is a misnomer. It isn't a fort at all. It is basically highland between two rivers that was further demarcated by mound walls. The mound walls were constructed by woodland Indians and the area was believed to be a ceremonial place and not a domicile. Here is a nice, simple top level description of the old stone fort: https://www.tnhistoryforkids.org/history/virtual-tours/old-stone-fort/ Hopefully the pictures we took add to this description.
