Lake Louisa State Park - Clermont, FL: April 13-20, 2026

After leaving Juniper Springs, we headed to central FL for a family visit and a family member's wedding. Initially we stayed in the driveway of family who were the parents of the groom, but as it got closer to the wedding, we moved nearby to Lake Louisa State Park. Our first stay at the park was in March of 2022 so you can check out the first blog entry for more information. After several years of doing this type of living, I do think the park has the nicest combined bath and shower rooms I have experienced. I don't know if have they heating and air-conditioning since we have only been there under temperate conditions. If they don't that would impact my positive view. We undocked the camper so we had the truck to commute from the campground to other wedding activities. We had to switch campsites after the first night so we waited until the second night before undocking. The two sites were in the same loop and only two spots apart. Here are pictures of the undocked camper at the second site. I have to learn to keep my fingers away from the lens (see middle picture).

I noticed quite a bit of biking in the park on this visit. I took most of my rides using homes of nearby family as my base so I didn't bike in or near the park except for one day. I have not found the biking outside the park very enjoyable because it is on major eight lane highway with a 55 MPH speed limit even though there is a bike lane. Fortunately, at least from a biking point a view, there is a new road nearby that connects to the highway that has slower traffic. It is a busy road though, as it is part of a major cut through to other area toll roads. I took my ride somewhat early Sunday morning to avoid the heavier traffic. Not that I am fond of Charlie Kirk's legacy but I thought it was notable that one of the cut through roads was already declared to be the Charlie Kirk Memorial Highway by the local county commissioners https://mynews13.com/fl/orlando/news/2025/10/01/lake-county-names-road-for-charlie-kirk.

After the wedding events ended we left Lake Louisa State Park and headed directly to NH with a couple of overnight rest stops along the way. We have work on the Christmas Tree farm there to do and also support the farm owners during the surgical recovery of one of the farm owners. Next, in June will be another family support opportunity in VA for one of our daughters surgical recovery. That should be the end of our surgery related travel for a while until we head to a family vacation home in Northwest GA, Ellijay, for a visit in July with our children and their families.
